Here at MountainDogPuppies.com we have a little different philosophy about Bernese and Greater Swiss mountain dog puppies. First a little history, when we first tried to squire our Bernese Mountain Dog we ran into numerous obstacles. It seemed no one wanted us to have Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. Wanting to approve us in various ways to see if we fit their cookie cutter mold to qualify. And if they should consider us, we would have to settle for neutered Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs and numerous other requirements.
We decided to get one at any cost and after much searching finally located a source for Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. At first we just wanted these beautiful animals for a pet, but soon decided after careful consideration that we wanted to breed and raise these magnificent Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs so other families to enjoy without all the hassle. |

We then set out to acquire a mate for our Swiss Mountain Dog and couldn't seem to stop. We now have four Bernese and eight Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs, raising a few pups each year. We had to pay a great deal for our breeding stock. They are not curr's in the back yard grinding out puppies to sell.
Our goal is to provide to good homes, a few well bred, healthy Greater Swiss Mountain Dog puppies, so that others may enjoy the Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs as we do, and at a reasonable price without limitations as to what you can or can't do with you dog. In other words we do not limit breeding rights with full AKC and/or APRI registration. |

There seems to be a faction of "Reputable Breeders" that want to scare people from getting Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs by calling all other breeders "Puppy Mills" and "Irresponsible", loaded with health problems and "their puppies" will drop dead at the age of two years, however if you notice, they always have a solution for you, "Get one from them" if you can qualify.
You can even register it? What for? You can't breed it, very few are into showing especially in the AKC ring. Our puppies are also APRI registrable where you or your child would be welcome to show as amateurs where the judging emphasis is on the dog, not the handler. As to certifications, we have read up and checked out the OFA certification thing. You can get OFA certified however if you notice there are all kinds and degrees of certification, None seem to be perfect. if you dig deep enough they tell you it does not mean a puppy from certified parents will not have a problem.
